Venue and Transportation

Germany’s vibrant capital Berlin is a city where history, culture, and innovation meet. Known for its distinctive neighbourhoods, thriving arts and cultural scene, and remarkable historical landmarks, Berlin offers plenty to discover alongside ET 2027. From world-famous monuments to museums, restaurants, green spaces, and nightlife, the city provides an exciting backdrop for this year’s meeting.

Iconic Landmarks and History

Few European cities have been shaped by history quite like Berlin. From its rise as the capital of Prussia and later the German Empire to the upheavals of the 20th century, the division of the city during the Cold War, and German reunification, traces of Berlin’s past can be found throughout the city today. The Brandenburg Gate, once situated directly alongside the Berlin Wall, has become one of the most recognisable symbols of German reunification.

Visitors can explore many of Berlin’s best-known landmarks within the city centre. Highlights include the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Berlin TV Tower, Checkpoint Charlie, and the East Side Gallery, where one of the longest remaining sections of the Berlin Wall has been transformed into an open-air gallery. Another highlight is Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the heart of Berlin that brings together five historic museums and centuries of art and cultural history.

Beyond its historical sites, Berlin is known for its lively and diverse atmosphere. Explore the cafés, restaurants, and galleries of its many neighbourhoods, stroll through the Tiergarten, or experience the city’s renowned cultural and nightlife scene. With an extensive public transport network connecting its different districts, Berlin is also an easy city to explore during your stay.
